About this Event

Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in collaboration with ArtReach and George Washington University are bringing FREE fine arts education, therapeutic art, and mixed media art workshops to DC residents East of the River (Wards 7 & 8).

Who: Priority registration is for residents East of the River (Wards 7 & 8)

What you will be doing: The lotus flower is recognized in many cultures around the world as a symbol of enlightenment and rebirth. Join us as we explore these themes through a therapeutic lens. Express yourself through painting all while reflecting and relaxing. Art supplies provided on site. Participants must be 18+

When: Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Check-in opens at 9:45am.

Where: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet by the entrance trail at the parking lot.

Getting There: By car, there is a large visitors parking lot at the park entrance on Anacostia Ave and abundant street parking surrounding the park. By Metro, the park entrance is 1.0 mile from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.

Bring with you: We recommend you bring a water bottle, snack, bug spray, sun protection (sunscreen/block, hat, sunglasses), and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors.

**Masks are optional for all participating. However, space remains limited to allow for social distancing among attendees and other park visitors.**
