About this Event
Join us on June 17th from 1-5pm at El Sereno Community Garden for Well:spring - A Day of Community Wellness! Critical Mass Dance Company invites you to celebrate the summer solstice with us by activating our collective webs of support, nourishment, and mental well-being.
Just as water replenishes our aquifers and builds abundance below, we gather to share the abundance of community resources that support our collective care on the path to our liberation. This is an ongoing series offered by Critical Mass Dance Company--and this instance is supported in part by Take Action for Mental Health Los Angeles!
Come join us this summer to connect and replenish our collective roots!
Come to our Day of Community Wellness to:
- receive free 15-20 minute sessions from local healing arts practitioners specializing in acupuncture, herbalism, reiki and somatic movement/embodiment
- learn invaluable health and healing resources from local community organizations
- try out a Dance from the Heart community workshop led by Critical Mass Dance Company!
- build your own mental health goodie bag of items from local vendors!
Schedule TBD
Get there early to sign up for a healing session! All sessions are first come, first serve. Sign up when you arrive with one or more healing arts practitioners.
MORE INFORMATION ON OUR COMMUNITY CARE CLINICS!
WHY: CMDC’s purpose in offering Community Care Clinics is to increase community access to healing arts and movement practices including acupuncture, reiki, herbalism and dance/movement. CMDC provides these community resources free to all to support our collective care on the path to liberation.
WHO: Open and free; anyone can attend!
WHEN: CMDC is offering Community Care Clinics 3x this year, around the Spring Equinox in March, Summer Solstice in June, and Fall Equinox in September!
Made possible in part by Take Action LA, LADMH, and CalMHSA
POEM INSPIRED BY WELL:SPRING
Just like a large forest of trees
Or mycellium that extend for miles underground
Our collective roots reach down to connect
Grounded in community, we share resources
So that we may be strengthened and sustained as one
We gather to replenish our collective roots
Send roots down deeper to connect
To the aquifer of community that connects us all
Circle round the community wellspring
So we all may drink and be refilled
We also gather together so we can go deeper still
Tap into that wellspring inside
That one Source of overflowing life force
That provides a continual supply
Where abundance flows at all times
So that we may all grow and thrive
Healers and collaborators announced soon!

Our Mission:
Critical Mass Dance Company (CMDC) awakens and activates the creative, intuitive power of the heart through dance & movement for healing, transformation and wellness in mind, body and spirit
What is Dance from the Heart?
CMDC teaches a trauma-informed, community-based embodiment practice called Dance from the Heart:
- Dance From The Heart helps us to envision and embody our greatest visions for our lives and world
- As we embody and express these heart-felt intentions with movement, we help create the change we wish to see
- Check out this from WeRise Walk for Wellness May, 2021!
We envision a world where:
- Humanity is rooted in living & leading from the heart, creating change from the inside out
- All people have access to dance & other holistic embodiment practices that help them connect to their heart
- We embody an intersectional approach to unity and collaboration that celebrates the diverse human experience
- Heart-centered movement contributes to the well-being of humanity and our stewardship of the planet earth
Our Values
- Dance is healing: Supporting holistic health and wellness on the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental levels with dance
- Full creative expression of all people: Providing an environment that encourages all bodies to move and express freely
- Respecting the inherent value in all: Appreciating that everyone has something important to contribute.
