Instructor - Eden Attar + Ethan Labowitz
Eden Attar is a professional artist and the Artisans Asylum Metal Shop Lead. She has trained with certified welders. Eden wrote her master's thesis on critical pedagogy and classical music on the television program Sesame Street and is interested in anti-colonial, de-schooled, and non-hierarchical forms of teaching and learning.
Ethan Labowitz is a welding engineer, welding educator, metal fabricator, and Certified Welding Inspector with 20 years of experience in metalworking, including at Miller Electric, Olin College, Harvard University, and MIT. He’s studied metalworking in a variety of contexts, including kinetic sculpture, precision machining, structural welding, blacksmithing, bicycle frame building, and museum modelmaking. They have experience joining most metals by all major processes, including welding, brazing, and soldering, and have held national certifications in structural welding (AWS D1.1) and brazing (ASME Section IX).
Class Description
Welding 102 is for people who have taken one of our 101 welding classes before or have recent experience MIG or TIG welding and want to improve their welds. This class takes the form of a 3-hour open ended group lesson.
Material Fee
The materials fee for this class is $30. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in cash or through Venmo.

Students Should Bring
If you use glasses for reading or other close-up work, please bring them---welding involves a lot of small detailed work. We have welding jackets for your upper body, but please cover all the skin on your lower body with clothing made of natural fibers (cotton, linen, wool, denim, etc.) and wear closed-toe shoes. Please do not wear loose-fitting clothes, please tie back long hair, and expect to remove any rings or dangling jewelry.
Prerequisites
Students must have completed Metal Shop 101 OR TIG Welding 101 OR have similar welding experience.
