This 3-week course is all about the skills you need to design and make items with steel. Each student will fabricate a table base from 1.5" square steel tubing. The class builds upon skills learned in the beginning MIG welding classes. If you have previous MIG welding knowledge, this class will give you a chance to technically hone your skills. We will concentrate on honing fabrication skills including table design, layout, jigs, weld prep, welding technique, minimizing distortion, and weld finishing (grinding and sanding). Each student will build a side table with the dimensions 20"W x 20"D x 24"H
One session (2 hours) of shop time is required between classes on Saturday from 10am-12pm. This is the only time reserved for the Welding 101 students. By the end of the class, students will have a solid understanding of the basics of welding fabrication and will be able to apply their new skills to their own welding projects.
