About this Event
Join us at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden for a hands-on Sogetsu Ikebana class with Sensei Stephan Eberhagen (for further information please go to www.ikebanainmiami.com). Stephan will lead you to explore your creativity, to learn basic ikebana techniques and to discover the spiritual meaning of this wonderful flower art.
The beginner class (4-6 students per class; 1.5 h) consists of the following parts:
I. Check-in/set up (10 min)
II. “Get focused” - Briefing of arrangement (basic upright-style Moribana; 15 min)
III. “Get creative” – Create arrangement (40 min)
IV. “Let’s talk” – Review arrangement (15 min)
V. Clean up (10 min)
Flowers and greens will be provided. Participants will need to bring a flat container (Suiban) with 8-10” diameter and 2-3″ height, flower pin holder (Kenzan) with at least 3″ diameter, and ikebana flower scissors (Hasami). You may bring your own or order a kit at least three weeks before class begins.
We are offering two sessions happening on Saturday, February 1.
Session 1: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Session 2: 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
The two sessions are the same, so please choose one or the other, not both!
