About this Event
***Please note: This space is for climbers who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color.
Join Genevive Walker and Gerry Egbalic in Moab for a weekend of outdoor adventure, amazing crack climbing, and community building. This event is specifically for climbers who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color and who love to climb, learn, and connect with the community. Whether you're a seasoned climber or are just starting, this is the perfect opportunity to connect in nature with like-minded folks in a fun and engaging setting. We will set up climbs of all grades based on the goals of the group. There will also be time to teach technical and movement skills if you're interested in learning something new. Whether you're excited to climb or eager to learn, this weekend is for you!
Genevive Walker (she/her) is a Single Pitch Instructor and Rock Guide Apprentice who has been guiding for seven years. She is an athlete for Mountain Hardwear, Evolv, and Sterling as well as DMM. She has spent most of her career guiding climbing trips and teaching climbing-based courses primarily for women and BIPOC climbers. Genevive has noticed and reaped the benefits of affinity spaces and wants to continue creating more space for folks to connect in the outdoors. She enjoys all types of climbing, and her goal for this trip is to share her love of crack climbing and the beauty that Moab creates.
Gerry Ebalic has been climbing for nearly two decades and has made Moab and The Creek their seasonal home since choosing the dirtbag life. They’ve lived, worked, and—most importantly—climbed there for twelve straight years, endlessly drawn back by crack climbing and the desert landscape. A Filipino immigrant who came to the United States in their early teens, Gerry spent years assimilating into “American life.” That journey revealed how crucial representation and belonging are, and now they bring that perspective into everything they do on the rock—actively championing diversity, visibility, and access in climbing and the outdoors so more people from all backgrounds feel welcome.

Accommodation Details:
Due to the potential for very cold temperatures at night, the ticket includes indoor accommodation. The house is a condo with three bathrooms, a patio, hot tub, and three bedrooms, including one with a king bed, one with two queen beds, and one with two bunk beds.
****Keep in mind this is a co-ed event, and folks will have to share rooms. Two folks will have to share the king suite unless someone is okay with sleeping in the living room, on the couch. I encourage two friends to share the king suite to allow everyone to have their own bed. ****
I tried my hardest to find accommodations with more rooms to allow for more privacy, but this was the best I could find to keep the cost low.
* **Again, this is a co-ed event***
*** The house address will be shared post-registration for privacy purposes. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email, [email protected].

A follow-up email will be sent out to all participants with the details.
