About this Event
This organ recital is one of the programs for the American Guild of Organists 2024 National Convention headquartered in San Francisco from June 30 to July 4, 2024. This recital is open to the public, and tickets are not required.
Dr. Weicheng Zhao is the Director of Music/Organist-Choirmaster at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California where he conducts two 45-voice adult choirs. Additionally, he serves as a faculty member and the College Organist at Pomona College. Born in Tianjin, China, Dr. Zhao came to the United States in 2009 to pursue study of the pipe organ—a new instrument for him at the time. In 2018, he was awarded his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Cherry Rhodes.
Dr. Zhao’s program includes the French Suite No.5 in G Major (BWV 816) by J.S. Bach, Symphony in the Teapot by Qi Zhang, The Butterfly Lovers by Gang Chen and Zhanhao He featuring violinist Fang Gao, A Soldier Returns to His Love by Changcheng Zhang and Ye Yuan featuring violinist Fang Gao, and Variations sur un Noël (Opus 20) by Marcel Dupré.
