Weenies for Rescues - Noble Dog Derby

Hear ye, hear ye! Registration has commenced. The Upstate Renaissance Faire proudly presents Weenies for Rescues Noble Dog Derby; Sunday, September 14th at the Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds, Spartanburg SC from11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. (Check in starts at 10:00 AM) All proceeds from the sale of Derby registrations go to Canine Healing Project .

The ultimate goal of any wiener dog race is to have as much fun as possible, and this one is extra special - it’s immersed in the magical world of the Upstate Renaissance Faire!

THE DEETS:

• Registration is $50 per weenie (+the Eventbrite fee)
• This is a RAIN OR SHINE event.
• Every team receives a hand-dyed canvas tote bag, filled with swag.
• The winner of each heat receives a prize. Overall 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a prize and the top three best costume winners receive a prize. All winners receive an award.
• Participants should be dressed for the occasion, wearing Medieval, Renaissance or Fantasy-themed costumes. There will be a costume contest at the end of the final race.
• Each team will receive two free passes to enter the faire and parking is free. Additional team members, AKA cheerleaders, will be required to purchase a ticket to enter. As long as your weenie is in costume and on a leash, you are welcome to remain and enjoy the rest of the day at the faire. There will be plenty to see, eat and do for the whole family. Human costumes are encouraged.
• Each team consists of ONE dachshund and TWO humans. You must have two humans to participate. One person at the starting line, and one person at the finish line. (Ideally, their most favorite person should be standing at the finish line. LOL)
• We will run the event in heats, consisting of 6-10 weenies each.
• The winner from each heat advances to the final race to compete for the ultimate title of King or Queen of Doxieton.
• In case of a tie, these weenies will race again before we advance to the next heat or final race. There can only be one winner per heat.
• The winner of each heat will receive an award.
• Prizes and honors will be bestowed upon the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall winners
• We will also be awarding prizes to the top three best costumes, determined by audience applause.
• You must pay in advance before the deadline to participate
• IMPORTANT: Check in and heat assignment begins at 10:00 AM. Be sure to arrive early so you can check in and walk to the race site and fall in next to your heat mates, no later than 11:15 AM
