Weekly Bike Mechanics Skill Share – What We’ll Be DoingThis weekly skill share is a hands-on, beginner-friendly bike mechanics class focused on giving people the confidence and skills to maintain and repair their own bicycles.
Each session will cover basic, real-world bike maintenance, including:
Flat tire repair & tube replacement
How to check tire pressure and choose the right tires
Brake adjustments (rim & disc basics)
Shifting and derailleur tuning
Chain care: cleaning, lubrication, and replacement
Bolt checks and basic safety inspections
Fixing squeaks, rattles, and common ride-stopping issues
How to tell when a bike is unsafe to ride
What repairs you can do at home vs. when to seek a shop
How It Works
Bring your own bike or work on a shop bike
Learn by doing, not just watching
Ask questions, try tools, make mistakes, and learn together
All skill levels welcome—no experience required
Tools provided (bring parts if you have them)
The Goal
To share knowledge, build confidence, and keep more bikes rolling—especially for folks who may not have access to a traditional bike shop or formal training. This is about mutual aid, self-reliance, and community, not perfection.
You don’t need to be “mechanical.”
You just need a bike and curiosity.
