Learn the skills to make a wooden standing planter or garden store from recycled wood.
About this Event

This course will enable you to learn the skills to make a planter of your own design from recycled wood, which you will take home with you at the end of the day. Planters can be square or rectangular, and made to the dimensions of your choice (max 90cm because of the recycled wood we use). You may add a lid if you wish, and use it as garden storage instead. The course will be led by Tom Lister, an experienced carpenter and woodwork tutor at the fully fitted Hollybush workshop, and all materials are inclusive.

The course will run between 10.30am and 2.30pm, with refreshment and lunch breaks.

All equipment and material will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own safety boots and gloves if they prefer. Course are taught in a well ventilated space, so please dress for the time of year!

This course is for participants aged 18+.

About us:

Hollybush is a Conservation Centre in Kirkstall that has been working with the local community for over 40 years to offer volunteering opportunities and adult learning. Our adult learning courses are rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

How to find us:

Hollybush is a former farmhouse located on Broad Lane in Kirkstall, at the junction with Bridge Road (B6157). Please consider the environmental impact of your visit to Hollybush and walk, cycle or use public transport if possible. Bike storage is available, but please bring your own lock!

We are a two-minute walk from bus stops at the Bridge Shopping Centre (numbers 91 and 49) and Kirkstall Morrisons/Kirkstall Road (numbers 33,34,35 and 508). We are a ten-minute walk from Headingley Train Station.

We have limited parking on site reserved for blue badge holders and those with limited mobility. Other visitors travelling by car have the kind permission of Morrison’s to park at the far end of their carpark, a short walk from Hollybush. There is also a very small public carpark off Whyther Lane, by the canal.
