About this Event
The goals here are simple: 1) enjoy some interesting beer pairings, usually blind; 2) come out to support local venues by buying additional beer and food; 3) meet other folks who are interested in beer in the broadest way.
We split the cost of the bottles, S$15 per person. 1-4 tasters of ~70ml each, enough to compare and enjoy but small enough that we will support the venue by buying beers there, also.
These tastings are miniature versions of blind lambic tastings I've attended at Moeder Lambic in Brussels over the years, tastings that I have found illuminating and even, frankly, mind-blowing. Because the tastings are usually done blind, any sense of hype and emotional reaction to specific producers or the idea of an aged bottle are gone. Is it a rare Bokke? A bucket-list Cantillon? A 15-year-old bottle or a fresh one? We won't know, at first. What we are left with is the opportunity to approach the beer in a new way, on its own terms, and have a chance to chat about what we're getting from these beers as we taste them. All beers in a tasting will be united by some common thread: a similar barrel-aging, a similar producer across different years, a similar ingredient, or a similar type of beer across different producers, etc. That common thread will give us a start to the conversation.
