"Wine-Down" your Wednesday with a fun and educational tasting at Asheville's Neighborhood Wine Shop since 2010! We've had a lot of requests for more tasting and learning opportunities, and we listened. Join us on Wednesday, July 3rd, as Table Wine founder/owner Josh Spurling will guide tasters through a sampling of crisp and refreshing whites and roses.
Being that this is a paid tasting, we'll be pouring some very special, limited, and highly allocated wines. Delicious Sancerre, brilliant White Burgundy, and more will be open to try before you buy, and all wines will be offered at deeply discounted prices to paid attendees.
This is a drop-in, open-house style tasting, and you can stop by any time between 3-6 PM, whatever your schedule allows. We'll have some light nibbles out for palate cleansing purposes, and it will only take you 15-30 minutes to taste and learn. We hope you can make it!
The Wines: The lineup is subject to change based on availability, but if we have to make a substitution, it will be a good one!
1. 2022 Domaine des Chasseignes Sancerre Blanc (Loire Valley, France)
This wonderful, small family-run winery has produced one of the great Sancerre values in the world. This will be the first time we've poured it, and you're going to love it. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Chasseignes' certified organic, estate vineyards, this offers up classic notes of green pear, green apple, pineapple, citrus zest, and mineral.
2. 2022 Domaine du Prieure Savigny-les-Beaune Blanc (Burgundy, Frace)
In our estimation, this is one of the great White Burgundy values in the universe. From 50 year-old, certified organic vineyards, this combines the opulence and nutty character of a Meursault with the fresher and more floral nuances of a Puligny. The only difference is that this costs half the price. Truly sublime with wonderful notes of Meyer lemon, spiced apple, citrus oil, marzipan, and mineral. So good!
3. 2023 Barnard Griffin Rose of Sangiovese (Columbia Valley, Washington)
Year in and year out, this wine takes top honors at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition. 100% Sangiovese grown exclusively for the production of this wine, it's dry, vibrant, and delicious. Offering up aromas and flavors of strawberry, crushed raspberry, and watermelon, this is really good this vintage.
4. 2023 Chateau de Manissy Tavel (Rhone Valley, France)
Tavel is a very special spot for dry rose. Located just south of Chateauneuf du Pape, it is the only AOC in France that only allows for production of dry rose. Manissy is one of the qualitative leaders of the region, and they work with very old vines (some dating back to 1914) farmed biodynamically. Deeper colored and fuller-bodied than most Provencal roses, this exhibits bountiful notes of ripe strawberry, cherry, blood orange, spice, and Provencal herbs.
Our tastings tend to sell out quite fast, and due to the size of the store, we can only take 20 tasters.
