About this Event

Join us for a 'Wednesday Wainwright' hosted by Tina @tina.codling.mountain.leader

DISTANCE : 7km with 370m of ascent and descent

Duration: Around 4 hours depending on the pace of the group, the weather and how many stops we have!

All welcome but you should be fit enough to walk for around 4 hours on uneven, mountainous terrain.

MEETING : 10am in Aira Force Car Park (pay and display, free for National Trust members).

Please consider using the buses or car sharing. The 508 bus between Penrith and Windermere stops near the car park.

COST : FREE

This is a free event but Tina will be collecting cash donations for Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team at her walks this year with the aim of raising £100 to say thank you for coming to our assistance when one of our walkers slipped and broke her ankle. There is absolutely no obligation to donate but if you can spare a pound or two, or even a few pennies, please throw something in the pot.

WALK DESCRIPTION

We will start with a visit to the waterfall before climbing to the summit of Gowbarrow Fell and continuing clockwise to descend, joining the Ullswater Way to return to the start. There are toilets and a cafe near the car park. Please note: the path is rocky and steep in places.

PLEASE BRING:

Lunch, snacks, water/drink of choice.

Good walking shoes/boots, comfortable clothing (not jeans), a waterproof jacket and trousers and hats/gloves/extra layers. If it is hot, you may need a sunhat and sunglasses plus suncream.

Walking poles may be useful.

Please also bring any Medic*tion you may need.

If the weather is bad Tina may change the route or cancel the walk.
