Players of both Pokémon Go and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet can come to the Cardboard Casket Pokémon League every Wednesday for some exciting video game matches!
Our weekly Pokémon Go tournament is held from 5:30PM to 6:30PM and uses the Great League format. This means only Pokémon with CP of 1,500 or less are legal for play.
Our weekly Pokémon Scarlet/Violet tournament is held from 7:00PM to 8:30PM and uses the Standard format. This means all matches will be double battles and players are allowed to use two Legendary Pokémon on their team.
There is a $5.00 entry fee to compete in each tournament, which goes directly to prize support for top players. Winners will also receive special Prize Packs containing stamped Pokémon cards that are only given out at official leagues.
Our Wednesday video game nights are hosted in cooperation with XPerience Play, an independent group focused on spreading the joy of video games throughout the Medicine Hat community.
Because the Cardboard Casket is a gym in Pokémon Go, players who come for tournaments can work as a team to take down legendary Pokémon during Raid Hour. This is a special event in Pokémon Go that occurs every Wednesday from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, which is exactly in between our two video game tournaments. So players can add to their Pokédex at the same time as playing in a tournament!
As an important note, we will be hosting League Challenges for both Pokémon Go and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet on the THIRD WEDNESDAY of every month. These special tournaments give players a chance to earn Championship Points that can be used to qualify for larger events like the Pokémon World Championships. All League Challenges use the same formats as our friendly tournaments, but these events offer additional prizes in a more competitive setting. Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome at all of our tournaments, including League Challenges.
In addition, all participants will receive a Prize Pack every six league sessions they attend. So bring your best battle strategies and compete to be the very best!
