Wednesday Night Murder Club with...Ray Wood!

Join us for a fabulous evening with this fascinating chap - author and geologist, Ray Wood! Family Tree is his third novel. Here's what it's about:
The Macintyre family has run a forestry business in Hawke’s Bay for more than a quarter of a century, and their entire future is invested in their pine plantation. Things are looking rosy until Luke Macintyre has a bulldozer accident, and insurance issues mean they can’t replace it quickly. The loss of a crucial piece of equipment could be catastrophic for them, but computer programmer Cody has a possible solution. Unfortunately, his solution creates new problems as a criminal gang becomes involved and threatens to destroy everything the Macintyres have worked for.
Are blockchains, non-fungible tokens and carbon credits going to be the family’s downfall or salvation? Will a tropical cyclone, sabotage and personal tragedy keep them from beating their deadline and saving their forest? Family is everything, but with millions of dollars at stake who can be trusted?
And this is all about Ray:
Ray Wood grew up in Houston, Texas. He got a fellowship to do geologic fieldwork in Africa after graduating from university and worked with Richard Leakey in Kenya and mapped volcanic rocks near the Ethiopia-Sudan border.
After getting a master’s degree, Ray worked for Shell’s research division and then moved to New Zealand in 1979 to work for the Geological Survey, part of the DSIR.
Ray worked for GNS Science for 34 years, much of that time leading scientific surveys of New Zealand’s marine territory. He led the technical team for New Zealand’s continental shelf project and was part of the team that negotiated New Zealand’s maritime boundary with Australia. He provided advice to the governments of Brunei, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Oman, Malaysia and the United States for their continental shelf projects. He is the Chief Operating Officer for Chatham Rock Phosphate and is still helping Sri Lanka and Oman.
He lives in Hawke's Bay with his wife, June.
