Club Prior & Scott County Library are bringing back live music! Every second Wednesday of the month (January-April) in Club Prior. No registration necessary for these FREE programs. Events will be held in Club Prior, in the same building as the Prior Lake Library. Cláirseach - Wednesday, Jan. 14, 7-8pm
Experience the magic of the ancient Gaelic harp’s sparkling bell-like tones in the hands of master harper Ann Heymann, accompanied by husband Charlie's cittern, button accordion and concertina and his skillfully presented traditional and contemporary ballads, poems and comic songs.
Duniya Drum and Dance - Wednesday, Feb. 11, 7-8pm
Duniya Drum & Dance shares traditional rhythms and dances from Guinea West Africa with the general community. Master Drummer Fode Bangoura introduces the audience to the djembe and doundoun drums while company members perform energetic dances in colorful costumes. A typical performance has audience joining in with call and response rhythm and song exercises as well as learning traditional movements to live drumming. Duniya has 13 years of experience teaching and performing in Minnesota schools and libraries.
Gao Hong - Wednesday, March 11, 7-8pm
Gao is a virtuosic player of the pipa, a four-stringed instrument introduced into China 2000 years ago. Gao is a pipa ambassador who tells audiences about the instrument and dazzles them with her impeccable technique. She plays on world stages as a soloist and as a member of traditional Chinese music groups.
Tjärnblom - Wednesday, April 8, 7-8pm
A Scandinavian-style string band, Tjärnblom travels on a modern "Snoose Boulevard Highway" of Swedish, Finnish, and Minnesota tunes, old and new. Standard instrumentation is nyckelharpa, mandolin/guitar, cello and harmonium.
