Join us on Wednesday the 11th of September for the next instalment of our Wednesday Lunchtime Lecture Series, "Americans at Mount Coot-tha During WWII" presented by Allan Tonks.
Allan Tonks is an amateur historian with a passion for hiking and heritage at the Mount Coot-tha Reserve. He will be speaking on the activities of the US Navy at Mount Coot-tha during WWII; topics will include the US Naval Magazine, Camp Coot-tha, and Mine Assembly Depot #1. Allan's focus will be on explaining what can still be seen today at WWII sites across the mountain, and of general WWII legacy issues there.
Allan graduated in 1990 from the University of Waikato (New Zealand) with a Bachelor of Arts in history.
He contributed a chapter titled 'The Rigby family during the First World War' to the 2020 publication STEPHENS and WAR, which was produced by the Annerley Stephens History Group with support from the RHSQ.
