Wednesday Community Connections returns Wednesday, June 5, for its summer series! Everyone is invited to come join us for community. While we will not provide food during the summer session, Emerson Hall is open for conversation from 5:30-8pm. We'll also have the return of a variety of free classes, chapel open for unguided prayer and meditation, youth car washes and more!Schedule:
- Brown Bag Dinner & Conversation | 5:30-8pm: Bring or order your meal to enjoy in Emerson Hall. Iced tea, lemonade & water will be provided.
- Youth Car Wash | 6-8pm: Your donation helps fund our youth programming.
- Chapel 6-8:30pm: The chapel will be open for unguided prayer and meditation.
- Childcare | 6:45-8:30pm: A parent or guardian must remain onsite.

Classes Offered:
- Creative Play with Linda Alred | June 5 – July 10 | In person Room 124 – the Artists’ Atelier | Ignite your creativity in community! Try new artistic techniques, relieve stress, and play with a variety of materials and ideas throughout the season. Bring your ideas and your imagination.
- Contemplative Leadership: The Hero's Journey Into The True Self | Lindsey Barbour and Joan Brown | June 5 - July 10 | In person Room 128 | Utilizing Joseph Campbell’s exploration of archetypes and The Hero’s Journey, we will embark on a quest for deeper understanding of our embodied stories. We will incorporate various contemplative practices to create space within us for our return journey home, which is also the journey to our True Selves.
- Kickboxing, Abs and Empowerment | Noah Johnson and friends | June 5 - July 10 | In person in the Presidents’ Room | Join Aspire Fitness trainer Noah Johnson to learn kickboxing basics and feel good about the body you live in. This class is open to ALL levels of experience, although children must be accompanied by parents. This class is donation based ($5-$15 is suggested) and Liability Waivers must be signed before participating Bring your water bottle and wear comfortable clothing.
- Loving Boundlessly Through Inclusive Language | Linda Jenkins | June 5 - July 10 | In person in Room 120 | Linda Jenkins is an unconscious bias trainer and certified DEI practitioner. Learn inclusive language principles and acquire key terms and environments where using inclusive language can strengthen relationships including using Humanizing Language, Standardizing Respect for and Sharing Personal Pronouns, and Using Gender-Neutral Language. This course will be helpful in and out of church!
- Shawl Ministry | Tiffany Cross | June 5 - July 10 | In person in the Thoreau Lounge | The Shawl Ministry is a group of fiber artists who make a spiritual practice of creating shawls to give to people in our church community who are in need of comfort and solace. Members and friends infuse each shawl with positive intentions, prayers, hope, love, and healing. Completed shawls are blessed and sent along the way. We also make baby hats, blankets, booties and more. Knitters, crocheters, quilters and other fiber artists of all skill levels are welcome! Come learn to knit! We have yarn and needles to share!
- Sober Curious Happy Hour | Michelle Lamb & Quanah Scoggins | June 5 | Thoreau Lounge | Are you curious about an alcohol-free lifestyle? Join Michelle and Quanah for mocktails and snacks and discuss the benefits to putting down the booze, and talk about first steps to embracing a new way of living.
- Sunday Circle on Wednesday | Jim Gillispie and Joe Nurre | June 5 - July 10 | In person (Room 206) and on Zoom bit.ly/wednesdaycircle | Joe Nurre and Jim Gillispie moderate this conversational ministry from a spiritual point of view, governed by a commitment to our covenant. Topics change weekly and generally follow those chosen by the Circle the Sunday preceding. All are welcome to join in person or by Zoom!
- Yoga for Every Body | Stacie Beckert | June 5 - July 10 | In person in Room 207 | Take part in empowering, heart opening, restorative yoga for every body type. Come expand your mind and stretch your body. This class is donation-based.
