Registration is required to attend this event as space is limited. Please make sure ALL fields in the registration form are completed and that a confirmation email is received.
Join Golden Eagle Audubon on a walk through Canyon Hill Cemetery, a peaceful refuge for a variety of bird species throughout the year. We will be looking for fall birds including as Brown Creepers, Cedar Waxwings, kinglets, chickadees, crossbills, and other songbirds. The cemetery has scenic overlooks of the Boise River and farming fields that often have ducks, turkeys, and geese. We may get lucky and spot a wintering Merlin or Saw-Whet Owl. We'll be walking along paved but single lane roads, as well as unpaved paths along the canyon rim, and the grass between headstones.

Accessibility: This trip is suitable for those with limited vision, and the main paths are wheelchair accessible. Grassy areas between grave sites may present difficulties for those with limited or assisted mobility, but those paths are not required to participate.
Birding Skill Level: All levels are welcome. Binoculars will be available if needed.
Age: Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am. Check-in is at 8:50am. Please arrive at check-in so we can start on time.
: We will meet at the intersection of Illinois and Savannah Street in the vacant lot on the northwest corner. (Click on "Meeting Place" to get directions from your location.)
What to Bring: Layers for weather, sun protection, closed-toe shoes, binoculars, a scope if you have one, water, and snacks. A scope will be available for the group to share. No dogs please.
Restroom Availability: Restrooms will be available.
Special Conditions: Be aware that we will maintain a respectful distance from active funerals and mourners visiting gravesites. We will need to keep an eye out for any vehicles driving on the roads, and parents must ensure their children stay back from the edges of the bluff as there are no barriers. The outside edges on the east and north are unpaved and could contain goatheads, but provide the best views of the farm fields.
Inclement Weather: If there is an unhealthy AQI or steady rain or snow forecast, the trip will be cancelled.
