About this Event

Featuring Aaron Spicer Photography and Chaz Reid Films in conjunction with Weddings Made to Order and Something Fabulous Weddings & Events.

Hosted by Empire Events Venues at The Glass Box, The Stockroom at 230, and All Saints Chapel.

Unlike other workshops, our interactive and hands-on instruction mimics the flow of a real wedding day.

We'll move from the details and getting ready shots, to a stop-and-start ceremony enactment featuring natural backlight learning opportunities, a variety of styled photo and flat lay stations, and a retro Vegas-style chapel reception styled shoot.

Models, styled shoots, high-caliber instructors, interactive workshop sessions, and a business Q&A session round out your day.

Network with other photographers and videographers, and meet venue managers, planners, and more.

Continental Breakfast and Lunch are provided.

You must bring your own professional photo or video kit.

Photographers, videographers, and content creators are welcome to attend.

This workshop is recommended for intermediate-level wedding photographers and videographers.

$1000 value

Inaugural workshop pricing just $400

Early Bird (through July 7) $200

Aaron Spicer has had a camera in his hand from the time he was in preschool. His mom had an old Kodak Disc 6000 that he was always playing with, and she got him a 1984 Fisher-Price x Kodak 110 that still sits on his desk today. His mom told him that if he earned money for the film, she would pay to process it. Nothing was more magical than opening up that little white and purple envelope full of 4x6 prints to see what worked and what didn't. He still tries to deliver that kind of magic to clients every day.

Aaron was a recreational photographer and avid student of photography throughout his formative years. In high school, he earned money videotaping basketball games and working side jobs with his video production class. In his spare time, he documented weekend trips to DC and Richmond with friends.

In 2005, shortly after he graduated from the College of William and Mary, Aaron's uncle asked him to take a few photos at his wedding. At the time, he had a Leica M7 and a Nikon F100. The ceremony was held in the smallest, darkest Episcopal Church you can imagine, and the reception was even darker, taking place in one of the historical pubs in Colonial Williamsburg. It was a nightmare, but it was also strangely exhilarating. Since then, Aaron has documented well over 300 weddings, had images published on the covers of a dozen magazines, taught courses at Columbia University’s student press conference, put on three solo art exhibitions, and won several awards from internationally juried competitions.

Trent Crumpler is the Co-Owner and Lead Planner at Something Fabulous Weddings & Events. He believes wedding planning is the best career and the perfect merriment of his skills. He's an overly extroverted social butterfly who literally can’t stop talking. He's more “go with the flow” but also can boss people around in a heartbeat. On the wedding day, he can’t sit down. You will see him bopping around, checking in, and maybe even dancing to Fergalicious on the dance floor. Besides work, Trent loves giving his two cats all the love and affection they deserve. He also loves spending time with friends at local restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, or over a good bottle of red wine.

Ashley McElroy is the Cowner and Lead Planner at Something Fabulous Weddings & Events and a spreadsheet queen. She is a North Carolina native with old-soul tendencies. She loves a good book, a cozy blanket, a puzzle, and snuggling with her pets, Dakota, Clementine, and Elmer. Her favorite part of wedding planning is bringing together the logistical elements that make an event run smoothly. From vendor setups, ceremony processionals, fluffing dresses, and ensuring Trent doesn’t lose his clipboard, being onsite to bring it all together makes Ashley's Type A heart happy. When she's not being a workaholic, she loves to drink diet cokes around the world with her husband, Ethan.

Madison Martin is a teacher turned full-time wedding planner on the Something Fabulous team! She loves to travel, read a good book, cuddle with her pets, and spend time with her handsome hubby! She thrives in preparing logistics and coordinating with all vendors to help the day run smoothly.
