Come share the privilege of sitting with Senior Bunurong/Palawa Elder Verna Nichols, in amongst the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, surrounded by the communities bush food garden on Kulin Country where you will learn to weave a basket.
Auntie Verna will show you techniques taught to her and help you begin your first basket. Auntie Verna will be accompanied by her grandaughter Haylie also a respected weaver and artist.
Auntie Verna is highly respected Australia wide and Overseas for her weaving and her artworks, with pieces in museums and art galleries world-wide. Auntie Verna grew up on the isolated islands in the Bass Strait and it is from here she will fly in to sit with you on this very special day

This is a rare chance for you to share the day with her, weaving and sharing stories. Places are limited.

Coffee, herbal teas and a beautiful afternoon tea made from Native Bush foods will all be provided on the day.
We will ask you to collect your own weaving materials and we will have some things on hand, Auntie Verna tells me this can be anything from Native reeds ie Lomandra to Red Hot Pocker reeds to wool to plastic bags. It depends what you want to weave with. I will speak with you all individually about collecting materials before the event.
