About this Event
Join Aotearoa born and Tasmania based Mฤori artist and weaver Keren Ruki for a half-day weaving workshop.
As part of Blacktown Arts exciting new foundational cultural partnership with Powerhouse Parramatta, learn the art of First Nations weaving.
Participants will work together to learn skills in preparing and harvesting the natural material collected and weave an object to take home.
You will also learn to identify plants that are used in weaving practices so that you can source your own material!
For ages 18+
Materials and tools will be supplied.
Lunch will be provided, please note of any dietary requirements.
About the artist
Keren Ruki is a qualified arts professional with 20+ years experience delivering First Peoples arts projects and in weaving people together. Experienced Mฤori artist/weaver with expertise in community engagement, curatorial, exhibition development, program delivery, cultural heritage, collection management.
