Weapons Pond Living Shoreline Install

Volunteers will be aiding SCDNR installing Shoreline Habitat Units or SHUs and Oyster Castles along the shoreline near the Weapons Pond of the mouth of Ballast Creek.

This project will aid in the preservation of this area facing threats of erosion.

Volunteers will need to lift 30-35lb cement structures and place them in a predesignated location.

What to bring:

• water bottle

• appropriate clothes for January conditions

• sturdy shoes to navigate the sandy/muddy conditions

Volunteers will meet near the water at 2:00 at

7098 Wake Blvd, Beaufort, SC 29902, United States

Will be met by Aidan Richter (843) 991 9280 to walk to the site.

Important: This event takes place on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Volunteers must have independent access to the base
