On Sunday April 6th at 1:30 p.m, we will march down Bardstown Rd. from Douglass Boulevard to Eastern Parkway and back to Douglass Blvd. If we're lucky and it does not rain, we will have our rally outside in the arbor circle at Douglass Boulevard Christian Church, 2005 Douglass Blvd.40205 at 2:30 p.m. If it does rain we will move the rally with speakers and live music inside the gymnasium. I'll keep you informed of the any changes and updates.
Our speakers will be Senator David Yates, the Reverend Derek Penwell (Douglass Boulevard Christian Church) along with Congressman Morgan McGarvey.
Our music acts are
1) Troubadours of Divine Bliss and Mighty Kindness.
2) Kathleen Hope
3) Mountain Folk Choir
The performing artists will play one song each starting before our speakers and at the end of our speakers.
I'm so proud of the people who marched in the rain last time we marched, you are my heroes! This is a rain or shine event. I could use some volunteers to help with chants while walking and keep the peaceful march peaceful.
Marchers need to obey all traffic lights and stay out of the streets. We also need to respect all pedestrians walking on the sidewalks and don't crowd them. Be polite even if you are challenged by anyone or anything during the walk.
The date of this march was chosen so that we can have it inside the auditorium if needed. I'm excited to represent our marches and make sure our constitutional rights are not taken away. We have our work cut out for us.
Let's gather in huge numbers with the biggest impact possible and save our constitutional rights.
Depending on the weather, we will welcome returning marchers to the outdoor space or open the doors at 2:30 p.m.
Speakers and music start at 3:00 p.m. There is a capacity of close to 500 standing room only, unless you use a wheel chair or if you're handicapped bring your own (very small chairs) and sit upfront, very close together so we can fit the most people possible in the building. If the weather gods are in our favor we may do this event outside but we are grateful for the option of the gymnasium from the church.
We've worked really hard to put this event together and can't wait to see y'all there so you can leave with a little more hope that you leave with a little more hope than you came in with.
Peace.
