Join us for the first set of licensed 2024 USA Working Equitation Shows (#24-010 & #24-011) in southern Idaho. Celebrate you, your horse, and the natural cycle of the sun as it reaches its peak in solar energy and abundance.
Location: The Dream River Ranch a WE venue at the base of the Danskin Mountain Range along the historic Idaho Oregon Trail, 30-min east of Boise and just off I-84.
What it is: Working Equitation Club Idaho, LLC, (WECID) is hosting 3 days with 4 trials. We welcome Amy Star from Arizona as our judge, the first "R" judge for licensed shows in Idaho. Our very own Dawn Swensson will perform the Technical Delegate duties.
These two shows are perfectly placed to kick off the New Year in accumulating points for USAWE year-end awards and qualifying for the Western Zone Championships.
Dressage Trials 1&2 will be on Friday. Ease of Handling and Speed 1&2 will be on Saturday. Cattle clinic on Sunday morning with Noel McQuigg, who is well experienced in brandings, sorting, cutting and reined cow horse. She also is a Bronze medal Dressage rider. This clinic will help prepare or refresh you and your horse for the Cattle Trials 1&2 on Sunday afternoon.
Enjoy your best rides and the camaraderie of fellow competitors as we celebrate our unique field sport with feasting and entertainment on Saturday night. Many ancient cultures considered solstice at midsummer to be their New Year. In Native American cultures, the horse was a sacred animal associated with the sun, thus a connection to celebrating their horses during the Summer Solstice.
Our horses represent the feeling of freedom, as riding can be liberating. They represent strength because they are strong and powerful. They can symbolize speed and agility. Horses are known for their strong bond they can share with their owners, representing loyalty and friendship. Horses are seen as symbols of beauty. They are elegant creatures representing gracefulness, and perfection. Sounds like Working Equitation.
Let's celebrate this New Year of licensed WE shows with each other, our Horses and the Sun.
All competing riders must be USAWE members, and all competing horses must have a horse recording number with USAWE to participate. Those participating as hors concours (schooling rides only) do not need to be members/horse numbers. Find the USAWE Rulebook here: www.usawe.org/competitors/rules
