About this Event
Kick off Women’s History Month at this community film screening under the stars.
Haitian women’s voices and stories take center stage at this outdoor film screening at Lakou, a cultural hub and gathering space in Little Haiti.
Following the screening of two short films, attendees will split into small groups for facilitated conversations inspired by the works.
Featuring:
- “ESKWAD” by Keziah Jean, which captures the voices of local farmers’ organizations in Haiti, demonstrating how solidarity among agricultural workers is helping the country overcome underdevelopment and other challenges.
- “Querido Pequeño Haiti” by Diana Larrea, which the filmmaker describes as a love letter to Little Haiti, a neighborhood that has challenged, embraced and inspired her.
- Music by DJ Mack
