Come and join us in cleaning up Deanside Wetlands in Aintree, for We Love Aintree's 8th Annual Community Clean Up for Clean Up Australia Day. Deanside Wetlands are a critical part of the local ecosystem and are home to many waterbirds, frogs, birds of prey, kangaroos, insects and more. However, the human activity and development in the area is putting pressure on this vulnerable seasonal wetland. Plastic pollution is of a particular worry, with wildlife getting caught in plastic, or having it pollute the waterways they call home.
So and come and help us look after this ecosystem by collecting litter from the area of the wetlands along Gilderton Ave in Aintree.
Everyone is welcome to attend with everything provided - gloves (if you can BYO please do), bags, and refreshments. Please wear:
- sturdy closed-toe shoes (eg boots)
- a hat and sunscreen
- dress appropriately for the weather (wind, rain, heat)
