About this Event
Join our GET OUTSIDE Multigenerational Hike in collaboration with Deanne Dana Nature Center (LA County Parks) and "Y Tu Mama Tambien" (Club for Mamas)!
We'll be hiking at the Friendship Park perimeter loop which is a 1.6 mile trail from the Nature Center entrance. This is a moderate hike with beautiful historical and natural views. We will have a bus to the top of the peak for participants who cannot hike to make this open to all abilities and ages. We welcome all fitness levels to join us; the goal is to enjoy the journey, we are never in a race!
Once we reach the halfway point, we'll plan to take a break to catch our breath, enjoy the view and do a little gratitude journaling and meditating.
Time: 10am (please be punctual!)
Location/Directions: 1805 W 9th St, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275
Parking: Parking is free and we will meet iat the visitor center entrance above parking.
Difficulty level/Distance: MODERATE - the trails are a mixture of paved and dirt. Can be done with a cane and trekking poles.
Restroom Facilities: There are bathrooms in the visitor center and one more within the loop.
What you will need for this hike:
- Plenty of water to drink! (we recommend at least 1-3 liters)
- Sunblock and/or hat to protect you from the sun
- Comfortable hiking shoes/boots or trail sneakers
- Comfortable moisture wicking clothing - workout clothes work just fine!
- A daypack/backpack to carry all your items
- A towel to sit on if you're uncomfortable sitting on the ground
- Your journal and a pen
