We Create 2025 — Better Block SGF's sixth-annual community-design competition and showcase — will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Hotel Vandivort (in the new Compass Room in V2)! Thank you to our parters, ULI SWMO and AIA Springfield, for making this event possible. Each year, members of the Springfield community come together to explore creative solutions to specific challenges. In the spirit of collaboration and friendly competition, teams have less than 24 hours to create innovative proposals that inspire positive change in our city.
This year, teams will explore neighborhood hubs — public spaces that enable access to a range of resources and community-led activities — as a place-based approach to addressing gaps in social infrastructure.
Team registration closes Saturday, February 22, at midnight! Teams of 2-5 individuals welcome. Teams report at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 1. Each team is required to make a 5-minute presentation (followed by a 5-minute Q&A). Teams are not expected to present concrete solutions — only concepts.
The showcase opens at 1:00 p.m. with keynote speaker Antoine Bryant, Co-Managing Director of Gensler Detroit (former City of Detroit Director of Planning and Development). Team presentations and social to follow. Seats are limited.
