A youth Black History Month showcase,
An exciting event dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage and contributions of the Black community. This gathering features the expression of various art forms and commemorates Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech. The showcase aims to educate and inspire young individuals by highlighting the historical significance of Dr. King's message, fostering an appreciation for the ongoing struggle for equality, justice, and unity. Through engaging displays and presentations, the event serves as a platform to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. It encourages thoughtful reflection on the importance of continuing the pursuit of civil rights and social justice.
The desire is that through this event, young people will understand that WE ARE THE DREAM that DR. King wrote about in his iconic speech. Secondly, the dream doesn't just stop with Dr. King or us. It continues through our pursuit of greatness, better resources, education, and opportunities for the upcoming generation.
Youths ages 12-18 will display their talents through dancing, singing, poetry, speech, etc.
