Kia Ora KoutouNow we have finished planting for the year we are turning our attention to the all-important W**d releasing. This is essential to keeping the young plants that we have planted this winter from being overwhelmed by grass and weeds. Also mulching to help with moisture retention over those hot summer days. Our next weeding is on Saturday 29th November, meeting at the Nursery on Hana Udy Place at 9.00am. Gloves, tools and sunscreen provided along with a morning tea and an update on the Reserve afterward. Hope to see you there! Feel free to bring a friend and encourage others to join us. This will be our last volunteer activity for the year.
Also over summer we may need some help in watering the plants we put in this year, I will do a post if we need extra help.
Health & Safety Notice: When working in the Reserve, please ensure your clothing and footwear are appropriate for expected weather conditions (cold, wet or hot) and the terrain (such as holes, hidden objects, blackberry, overhead branches). Trip hazards and slippery tracks are a possibility. Stay clear of waterways. Be cautious if you have allergies and carry the necessary medication. Enjoy your time in the Reserve and please avoid blocking pathways used by other users. Report any accidents, injuries or possible hazards to the H&S Coordinator (021 071 5364).
