We are partnered with Wellington City Council to support restoration efforts across the city. Join us for a day (or more) in the hills of Makara Peak, working alongside the park rangers helping to control invasive weeds in different areas of South Karori. Invasive weeds smother native plants, prevent native forest regeneration and some can pose a serious risk to the health of people and wildlife. Our team provide a great experience by sharing our knowledge of conservation and skills to tackle outdoor challenges, which can be useful for your own home/gardens.CVNZ will provide all of the tools/equipment required as well gloves and vests. We will also provide morning tea refreshments, however, you will need to bring your own packed lunch and a full water bottle.
Please wear: long sleeved clothing to protect yourself from cuts and scratches, a hat, waterproof jacket and sturdy, covered footwear.
Volunteers are welcome to meet our team onsite, or get a ride in our CVNZ van. *We can transport upto 9 people, please contact Simerrah at [email protected] or call 021 774 258 to check our availability as we have limited seats.
More details are shared after making a booking.
Bookings can be made via our volunteer-portal linked here: https://volunteerportal.conservationvolunteers.co.nz/s/make-booking
