Always managing to exist on the very fringes of the current state of the so called dance music culture in Riga, Elvi Soulsystems has been performing for something like two decades now. His is a balancing act between not being afraid of flirtation with broad audiences, accessibility on the one hand and sheer, uncompromising integrity on the other. Over time his ability to surprise an audience in any given setting has not wavered.
On this particular ocassion we're inviting the man to share his vinyl collection instead of the traditional digital DJ set, he had this to say:
"I don't play records that often, but I do like the inevitability of vinyl. The stress, the fact that you really have to think about the next record in time rather than impulsively switch up the track just before mixing. My record collection is not huge at all, but every single record has a story and they differ drastically from the music Elvi Soulsystems plays at the club. Still – it is diverse, but diverse in a different sense, I guess. It is a lot more intimate world that I ocassionally invite people into."
Bar is open from 18:00. DJ set to start at 20:00.
