Living Things International Arts Festival 2026 - 10th Anniversary Edition Presents:Wayqeycuna
Tiziano Cruz (Argentina)
January 30, 9:00 PM
Kelowna Community Theatre
For mature audiences
Just as Andean women weave their Quipus [textile artefacts made of cords and knots] as memorial monuments, Argentine artist Tiziano Cruz traces a path back to his own childhood to reconnect with his community.
Drawing on archival research, the piece reflects on how racial hierarchies and systems of domination operate in a world where neoliberalism violently erases cultural, vital, and collective traces.
Wayqeycuna is the final work in the trilogy Tres Maneras de Cantarle a una Montaña (Three Ways of Singing to a Mountain), in which the artist combines a series of poetic gestures with childhood memories from northern Argentina and political manifestos on the art market and class privilege.
Wayqeycuna by Tiziano Cruz was the winner of the Audience Award at Zürcher Theatre Spektakel 2024.
