We are getting back to our roots. Conjuring, rootwork, and hoodoo are all names given to southern rural and black folk magic. Rooted in African traditions, this form of spiritual practice is uniquely shaped and influenced by the significance and impact of slavery, conversion, and oppression. This class series will cover some basic principles and concepts with hands on demonstrations, educational resources, and historical context. We welcome curiosity and we honor the struggles of our ancestors who were forced to modify their spiritual practices, hide their traditions, shroud their magic and power, and struggled to sustain their heritage. Each class will be a stand-alone topic and there is no requirement to participate in the entire series. Each class is about 1.5-2 hours long. Here is a link to a brief introduction and what to expect video:
Mamba MiRah also put together this video on her spiritual journey of root work and her WHY for this class. Video is 45 min long and is NOT required for this class, but provides some anecdotal context why this class is important to her:
