About this Event

The Centre for Fantasy and the Fantastic, the University of Glasgow, and Cardiff University are happy to invite you all to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Richard Adams's Watership Down in a two-day conference taking place on the University of Glasgow, 2-3 September 2022.

Join us for two days of fascinating papers exploring all aspects of Watership Down, its influences and legacy, and three amazing keynotes: Adams’ daughter Rosamond Mahony, British children’s writer SF Said, and Dr Briony Wickes (University College Dublin), a specialist in literary animal studies.

Our conference website can be accessed here. You can find more information about our keynotes here. Full conference programme forthcoming.

Please note that this event is subject to the Centre for Fantasy and the Fantastic Code of Conduct. By registering for this event you are agreeing to abide by these guidelines while attending the conference. We ask you to please review this Code prior to our event.

The current plan is that the conference will be held on campus, at the University of Glasgow. We are continuing to monitor the situation with the pandemic, and will adapt to its challenges as best as we can. An option to watch (but not participate) remotely will be available.
