We're gathering to give back to the Ware River Watershed trails we love! Sept 28 is National Public Lands Day, and DCR-DWSP has asked us if we'd be willing to put on a volunteer event that day. Absolutely! The Trails Subcommittee of the WRWAC has discussed the opportunity at several meetings and we're planning to meet at the intersection of Whitehall & Prison Camp Roads, before the Rutland State Park entrance gate. We'll gather volunteers there and disperse work crews to various trail project sites.. The work will be performed under the Trails Subcommittee's Volunteer Stewardship Agreement and the DCR has asked that everyone sign a form.
There will be light maintenance, mostly pruning the summer growth, and perhaps a larger project pending DCR review. Feel free to bring pruners, loppers, hand saws, that sort of thing. We don't anticipate using chainsaws, please don't bring them. If the larger project gets approved, we may edit the items to bring and notify you all with a post.
We'd like to highlight the happiness and positivity we've observed when interacting with other Watershed trail users. The trail network really is a highlight of our community, and it helps many people meet their outdoor goals. Please spread the word to other trail users and groups out there with folks that love the Ware River Watershed trail network. We'd love to have a huge turnout and be able to buff up the whole network in a half day. Hope to see you there and thanks for reading this far!
