Join artist and illustrator Ingrid Bartkowiak for this 3-hour beginners watercolour workshop to learn how to bring fungi to life in painted form. The workshop will run from 10am-1pm, Saturday, 1st March.
To start, Ingrid will guide you through the basics of using watercolour paints, paper and brushes. You will learn how to activate your colours using water, mix colours, and layer to change tones and intensity.
Ingrid will demonstrate bringing these elements together to achieve different results, with a focus on the particular techniques that you'll be using in this workshop. You'll be shown how to create key fungi characteristics, such as the shine on a smooth mushroom or the gills on its underside. You'll practice your skills by creating gradients, brush strokes and colour mixing on some fungi shapes.
You'll then have the opportunity to bring these skills together by creating an A5 fungi artwork. You can choose to draw your own design, or use the templates provided. The focus will be on the fungi, but we can also have some fun putting in moss, grass, dead leaves and tree branches if time permits.
This workshop is suitable for beginners with little or no experience, and all materials are supplied.
