About this Event
Join us for this event on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture!
Watercolor Moons is a practice designed and taught by Amelia Morton, a lifelong artist
based in Sisters, Oregon. This 3 hour workshop is a deep dive into Amelia’s unique use
of watercolors to facilitate creative exploration and surrender through painting a series
of 3-6 inch circles. We will familiarize ourselves with the paints and other materials,
learn paper preparation and layout techniques, and spend the majority of our time
putting brush to paper in the creative flow.
This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with painting experience. It is also
suitable those who have taken Watercolor Moons with Amelia in the past as we will be
building on the basic process during the second half of the workshop and exploring new
techniques to incorporate into your moon-making process.
All skill levels welcome!
For ages 12+
About the Instructor:
Amelia Morton is a lifelong artist from Ashland, Oregon
who moved to Sisters in 2017. She is the owner of Space In Common, a gallery,
shop, and creativity hub in downtown Sisters that opened in June of 2023. She
started watercolor painting in a Waldorf preschool classroom at the age of four
and since then her love of creating has expanded to include working with acrylic
paint, clay, yarn, digital mediums, and interior design, with watercolor remaining
steadfast as her main practice. Amelia’s current work centers around her daily
experience as a neurodivergent woman, and her connection to her ancestors, the
natural world, and the cosmos. Amelia’s work can be seen hanging at Space In
Common, at the Barn In Sisters, and on Instagram @amelia.rascal.
