This demo will illustrate the creation of 2 different landscape postcards. Each of the postcards demonstrates a different watercolor technique. Participants will choose the two cards they want to make.
1. Barn in snow- creating snow and shadows
2. Fields- mixing greens and creating clouds with lifting
3. Abstract landscape-Wet in wet technique
4. Front yard-preserving whites and windows
Pam Benoit is a award-winning teacher with a lengthy career teaching communication at universities. She's taught multiple watercolor workshops to beginners for various groups at UAB. Recently, she taught a floral watercolor workshop at Four Seasons Gallery. She really enjoys using her teaching expertise to assist individuals to have a successful painting experience.
Supplies Needed
- 2 watercolor postcards
- Round brush with a tip (Pam will be using an Escoda 6 round)
- Waterproof fine point marker (Pam will be using an 08 Micron)
- Plastic or glass plate; any palette
- 3 watercolor primary watercolors (red, blue, yellow) (Pam will be using Daniel Smith Hansa Yellow Light, Quinacridone Rose & French Ultramarine Blue)
- Jars of water
- Painter’s or masking tape
- Couple of tissues or paper towels
- Sea salt
Level 1: Beginner - This class is appropriate for beginner to advanced painters. Covers the basic techniques of the medium and offers individual assistance. No prior experience is required.
UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the workshop will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the class. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the workshop.
