Watercolor Batik and Mixed Media Collage Workshop with award winning artist Kathie George.DAY 1 – WATERCOLOR BATIK
Wax and watercolor – put the two together on textured rice paper and wow! You get a look you cannot achieve any other way. This is not an exact science, so just relax and enjoy the process. Kathie will lead you step-by-step through her process of layering watercolor and wax, teaching all the important skills you need to become an expert. The best way to teach you this technique is to work together on the same project, so the class will be working from a photo she has chosen. If you’ve worked with Kathie before and would like to work on your own photo with Kathie’s help, you can do so. You’ll be excited when you see what this technique can do for your own work! This is a fun class and you’ll be anxious to get home and try it on your own designs. No watercolor skills are necessary. We get a bit messy, but we have fun doing it!
DAY 2 – SUNFLOWER. MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE
Join us for this fun mixed media class. We begin by building a beautiful background with colorful Art Tissue papers. You will learn how to stain your own papers, too. Then we’ll dig in a have a blast learning collage. Step 2 is to “pull” our subject from the background. Beginners can work along with Kathie step-by-step as she demos how to paint the beautiful Sunflower. More advanced students may choose to collage with a different color palette and choose their own subject (many different paper colors will be available to you).
P.S. If you’ve struggled with ‘negative spaces’ in your paintings, this is the class for you.
