Bios:
Maeve Fox is a poet from Western North Carolina. She writes about the experience of growing up in Appalachia and being a trans woman. When not devoting her time to one of a dozen writing projects, she is a district court mediator. Maeve has had work appear in Kakalak. Her first collection, Letting Go of Me, was published in April 2025 by Redhawk Publications.
Scott Owens has authored 24 collections of poetry, most recently Elemental, about nature, & eventually, haiku illustrated by Missy Cleveland. Owens received awards from the Academy of American Poets, Pushcart Prize Anthology, Next Generation/Indie Lit Awards, NC Writers Network, NC Poetry Society, & Poetry Society of SC. His poems have featured on The Writer’s Almanac 8 times. Twice nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award & to be NC Poet Laureate, Owens holds degrees from Ohio University, UNC Charlotte, & UNC Greensboro. He’s Professor of Poetry at Lenoir Rhyne University, & former editor of Wild Goose Poetry Review & Southern Poetry Review. He owns & operates Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse & Gallery in Hickory, NC, & coordinates Poetry Hickory.

We’ll begin at 7:00 sharp & have a hard stop at 8:50 (the venue closes at 9:00).
OPEN MIC GUIDELINES:
Please arrive 6:30–6:45 to sign up in person, as spots are limited & will go quickly. No holds.
Each open mic reader has five (5) minutes on stage to share 1–2 poems. If you sign up to read, please stay to hear & support your fellow poets read as well.
