In honor of Water Stewardship Day on September 6, join us for a hands-on way to care for Oklahoma’s waterways. This special day was inspired by homeschool student and Girl Scout Evelynn Cannella, who requested the Oklahoma State Legislature designate September 6 as Water Stewardship Day.To celebrate, we’re teaming up with OKC Beautiful for a Deep Fork River Clean Up on Saturday, September 6, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Deep Fork Trail in Zach D. Taylor Park. All supplies will be provided. Please wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes and clothing that will protect your skin from brush and foliage.
Beyond this event, Blue Thumb volunteers statewide are encouraged to pick up litter at their monitoring sites or other waterways anytime between August 9 and September 7. Share your stewardship efforts by posting photos—before and after shots and full trash bags are especially welcome—on your social media and Blue Thumb’s pages. Don’t forget to log and report your volunteer hours to your Blue Thumb contact or by emailing [email protected].
