About this Event

Waste Not ASU!

Did you know that approximately 40% of the food that is produced in the US is thrown away every year?…and that it comes primarily from households and the retail sector such as restaurants and food service companies?

Food waste produces 58% of methane generated in landfills which is a big contributor to global warming.

Food waste also represent loss of natural resources that are used in its production, and billions of dollars lost – the equivalent of 130 billion meals.

The Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems and Waste Not are partnering to provide a lecture style Q&A workshop on potential solutions to the problem of food waste. Speakers will share success stories in previous research studies and local programs that have applied innovative approaches to decrease food waste at the household and retail level.

Attendees will learn about simple food waste prevention strategies that can be easily applied at home, businesses, and academic events.
