Meet at The Row- LA8 8DD (///lollipop.unstable.forum) 1.15pm ready to start the procession to the new(ish) orchard and ceremony at 1.30pm.
The Kendal to Crosthwaite road is closed so the quickest way is on the A590 and then the A5074.
Parking is tight so please car share where possible and consider parking at the main road and walking up. Either of the lay bys are ok. The lay by opposite the old Lyth Valley hotel with the OS pub symbol is where most people try and park and the one with the most space.
The blue is encircling the meeting point, the orchard is nearby.
It will be muddy underfoot. We will dance and sing at the orchard and toast the wren and the trees. Please bring along a shot glass to dip in the wassail cup although we will have a few spares...
We'll be collecting throughout the afternoon for Cancer Research.
Black Labrador pub- LA8 8HQ (///dizziness.haggis.expensive) 3pm ish
After the ceremony, we drive back up the Lyth Valley to Underbarrow and The Black Labrador. Fingers crossed if the weather is good we'll be able to dance outside but the pub will welcome us into the top room again to sing, if the weather's inclement.
Again, the parking is a bit tight, so we need to park considerately please. Some of us will have to park prettily on the roadside and I'd strongly encourage car sharing wherever possible!
There will be a short ceremony in the pub first, where we welcome the wren and sing The Wren and The King.
Then we go outside for dancing, mumming and more singing.
Underbarrow Institute LA8 8HJ 5pm ish (///marzipan.ultra.publisher) but literally just the other side of the road from the pub!
The car park at the institute is small and we need to leave room for a couple of campervans. There is parking for another 5 cars at the church a bit further along the road, but it is about 1/2 mile away.
The bar will be open as soon as we adjourn to the institute. We will take cash and have our card reader- and some great prices!
Once we've eaten our lovely meals, we can clear the tables away and start our frivolities!
