Wassailing is an ancient British custom of visiting your apple orchard, reciting incantations and singing to the trees. We’ll also hang toast on the branches and add a drop of cider to the roots (Don’t ask!). The idea is to promote a good harvest in the autumn. For Incredible Edible, it’s also a chance to get the community together, share food and drink all around a nice warm fire.As Incredible Edible has an orchard at Philips Park, we’re holding a Wassail on Sunday January 11th 2026 at 12pm to 2pm. Meet at The Barn, which is near the children’s playground. There will be live music, hot drinks, food, fire and fun.
On the day, please bring empty pots, tins or pans, with wooden sticks/spoons to bang them with. The noise is all part of the ceremony. Song sheets will also be provided.
We hope to see you there.
NOTE: There will be no public parking adjacent to the Barn Countryside Centre. Instead please use the car park next to the children’s playground, or in the overflow carpark down the drive.
