🌟 You're Invited: Wassail Lantern Making Workshop! 🌟Dear friends
Join us for a cozy, creative evening as we revive the ancient English tradition of wassailing with a modern, eco-friendly twist!
A Little History: Wassailing is a joyful winter custom dating back centuries, rooted in Anglo-Saxon times. Communities would gather on chilly January evenings, carrying glowing lanterns and torches in processions through orchards. They'd sing, make merry noise, and toast the apple trees' health ("waes hael!" meaning "be well!") to awaken them from winter slumber and ensure a bountiful harvest. It's a beautiful ritual of gratitude, community, and chasing away the dark days of winter.
This year, we're bringing that warm glow indoors with a hands-on lantern-making workshop! We'll repurpose leftover Christmas wrapping paper, tissue papers, cardboards, and wire (feel free to bring your own scraps!) to craft charming, handmade wassail-inspired lanterns. These simple, glowing creations will add a soft, magical light to any dark corner of your home—perfect for brightening those long winter nights.
Why repurpose? In a season full of waste, let's honor the spirit of wassailing by giving new life to materials we'd otherwise toss away. It's sustainable, heartfelt, and a gentle reminder to care for our earth as we wish good health to one another.
What to bring: (We'll provide glue, wire, tools, and hot cider 🍎)
We'll have mulled cider (non-alcoholic option available), snacks, and plenty of laughter.
Come craft, connect, and carry home a little light to chase away the winter blues. RSVP in the comments or message me—spaces are limited!
Wassail! 🎄🕯️✨
