Join Rockbridge Conservation for a behind-the-scenes tour of Washington & Lee University's innovative composting program and discover how the university diverts more than 160,000 pounds of food waste from the landfill each year. Participants will learn how dining hall scraps are transformed into nutrient-rich compost that supports campus gardens and landscaping.The tour starting point is Elrod Commons, on Washington & Lee's campus.
During this guided walking tour, we'll explore:

- Landfill reduction & climate impacts
- Sustainable food systems
- Practical lessons for community-scale composting solutions
All are welcome for this tour, which offers a firsthand look at one of Virginia's leading campus composting programs and ideas that can be applied throughout our community.

Please Note: This is a walking tour with a significant amount of walking involved. Participants should plan for approximately 90 minutes and wear comfortable shoes.
