This weekend, Warrington begins to unwrap its festive programme for 2025. There’s so much happening all weekend for the whole family to enjoy.Christmas Lights Switch-On Event
The big Christmas Lights Switch-On event is on Saturday, November 15th, in Golden Square from 6pm until 7pm. Leading the countdown will be Santa Claus himself with help from CBBC’s Hacker the Dog.
Free live performances from Wicked, Matilda, Mamma Mia, The Greatest Showman and The Lion King will make the evening magical, before the clock strikes and the Christmas lights are switched on to mark the beginning of all the festivities in Warrington this season.
Independent Street Artisan Market
Independent Street returns with incredible Christmas markets. There will be over 70 stalls to browse on Horsemarket Street, Market Gate, Buttermarket Street, Bridge Street, and Dolmans Lane leading into Time Square. These will be open on Saturday, November 15th, from 10am until 7pm and Sunday, November 16th, from 11am until 5pm.
If you’re searching for the perfect Christmas gifts or just want to treat yourself, there will be plenty of unique, quirky stalls ready and waiting to inspire you. Fill your shopping bags with goodies while strolling around the market, chatting with the producers and sampling the delights on offer.
Time Square Children’s Fairground
In Time Square, there will be a fairground with children’s rides and entertainment, plus Bavarian, German and Dutch sausages and toasted marshmallows.
Walkabout Entertainment in Time Square and Golden Square
There will also be a range of walkabout acts in Time Square and Golden Square on Saturday and Sunday. The theme for Saturday, November 15th, is Icy Days and for Sunday, November 16th, is The Grinch and Friends.
On Saturday, November 15th, enjoy Icy Days walkabout acts at two locations. In Time Square, the Polar Bear appears at 11.30am, and 2.30pm, while the Snow Queen and King perform at 1.30pm. Over in Golden Square, catch the Snow Queen and King at 11.30am and 3pm, with the Polar Bear taking the stage at 1pm. On Sunday, November 16th, The Grinch and Friends take over. In Time Square, Cindy Lou and Whoo appear at 11.30am and 2.30pm, while The Grinch performs at 1.30pm. Golden Square hosts The Grinch at 11.30am and 3pm, with Cindy Lou and Whoo appearing at 1pm.
