War Horse is a timeless story of friendship, bravery and innocence set against the devastating backdrop of World War I, as told through the eyes of the brave-hearted horse Joey.The acclaimed book by Michael Morpurgo has been previously adapted for the stage and for film. Now War Horse in Concert (conceived in 2017) uses theatrical performance elements to showcase a concert-length orchestral score by British composer Adrian Sutton (whose music is often compared to that of Edward Elgar): the orchestral chapters and interwoven with four actors from ICTRep reading selections from the book. In addition, a tenor soloist and a choir sing historic, folk-based melodies, while visual art of Rae Smith is animated on a large projection screen.
